'Kreukelzone van satijn’ is een muzikale ode aan de reis die een vrouw maakt door haar leven.
A journey within.
Personal lyrics and music inspired by a range of styles, from classical to pop and cabaret. Melodic, harmonic and compelling.
Lyricist Bas Smallenbroek and Lucette van den Berg met in 2005.
Lucette sang Yiddish and classical music and Bas was curious how Lucette would sound in her native language, Dutch. For months they talked about life and love. This resulted in particularly intimate and honest texts, precisely fitting to Lucette's skin and world.
Peter Schön turned them into catchy songs with his compositions, which fit in perfectly with Lucette's musical and vocal universe. Each song is written from its own musical form, in which Lucette's voice comes into its own in a natural way.
Singing, she walks a path of love, sadness, hope, deceit, happiness and vulnerability.
Honest, personal, sunny and powerful.
Beautiful recordings were made in Peter Schön's studio in 2006, but after that it remained silent. and the recordings were never mixed.
Yet the music was always cherished by the creators.
After lyricist Bas Smallenbroek died after a short illness in 2014 at the age of 44 and bassist Charly Angenois also died suddenly in 2021, Peter Schön and Lucette van den Berg could no longer ignore it.
It was now really time to breathe new life into this beautiful music.
They decided that the songs would be sung again, with the life experience and voice of today. In addition, they adjusted the arrangements and added backing vocals and extra instruments.
This created an album with a mature sound, inspired by all kinds of music styles: cabaret alternates with classical choir arrangements, jazz, tango and Nederpop. Styles that are reminiscent of rock bands such as Kayak and Renaissance are also featured.
The music is released on vinyl and, just like the music, becomes a true art project with stubborn choices.
Saskia Wagenvoort has been asked to give her view on Lucette and the music. She made beautiful soft-feminine art photos that adorn the cover.
Graphic designer Silvia Dorelijers took care of the beautiful, calm design of the double cover, with the lyrics in the heart of the cover.
