About Lucette van den Berg
‘Give me a song I can feel' is the maxim of the versatile singer Lucette van den Berg
Lucette van den Berg is one of the leading voices in the vanguard of a new generation of Yiddish singers. She performed at theatres, in concert halls and at festivals throughout Europe and North America.
After her debut in the Yiddish world in 2005 and the release of new compositions of Beyle Schaechte -Gottesman in 2007, Lucette started with composing new work. First with Alan Bern and later with Mikhoel Felsenbaum and today she composes on her own.
We grow accustomed to the dark
“We grow accustomed to the dark” is a song based on the poem of the same name by Emily Dickinson. It is an ode to those who have the courage to resist injustice, often at great personal cost, driven by a determination to bring change to the world. The song was composed for soprano, piano, and fixed electronics (tape) in the week following the death of Alexei Navalny.
